Terry Black’s BBQ (Austin, Texas) Full Review

Terry Black’s BBQ has only been around since 2014 but has already made an impact on the central Texas barbecue scene. This is because the combination of the Black family and barbecuing goes back much further than that.

Terry Black’s is open 7 days a week and is often crowded from opening to close. We recommended trying a few types of meat by sharing as they are sold by the pound. These can be paired nicely with a choice of a few personal sides. If you are unsure what to order you can inspiration from the Terry Black’s t-shirts which proudly claim “Brisket is King.”

Since they opened the original location in Austin they have expanded to two other locations in Dallas and Lockhart.

Terry Black and Family

Twin sons Michael and Mark Black black opened the first Terry Black’s BBQ in Austin, Texas in 2014. Their father Terry is the namesake of the restaurant. Terry shared his decades of barbeque experience rooted in the Lockhart, Texas area with his sons before they decided to start a restaurant of their own. Many members of the Black family work at the restaurant making it a truly authentic family ran business.

Being located in the heart of Texas, Terry Black’s is well known for its beef brisket, however, don’t let that shy you from trying any of the meats available. The meats are sold by the pound, and the sides by volume, which is perfect for trying a variety of options if you choose. They also offer sandwiches and family packs in both large and small portions. Fountain drinks are available as well as a selection of beer and wine.

In addition to the in-restaurant dining, Terry Black’s also offers on-site catering for groups of 100 or more from all 3 locations. They also ship nationwide in the United States if you are not in or from the Texas area.
