For us bacon lovers out there, these make a fantastic snack or side dish to go with your main dishes. The problem, though, is that they are so addictive. I always have to make much more than I should. They are incredibly easy to make and delicious at the same time.
When you bite into them you get the softness of the peppers combined with that crunchy bacon and melted cheese!
This is probably the simplest recipe on this website. In just a few short minutes they are on the grill and just a few minutes after that ready to devour. So let’s get started.
Getting Started
Firstly, you will want to take your jalapenos and cut them in half from top to bottom. I have not added a list of ingredients with measurements today because there are so few ingredients, and it all depends on how many you want to make. With the jalapenos cut from top to bottom, you need to use a spoon or small sharp knife to remove the seeds and the membrane.
Take a mixing bowl and into that add cream cheese, grated cheddar, salt, and pepper. You are going to need about a spoonful for each pepper so that should give you an idea of how much you need. Mix this all together with a large spoon or spatula.
Take your jalapeno halves and spoon the mixture into them. Make them nice and full but try not to go over the top as we don’t want all the middle leaking out. For each pepper half you want to wrap it with a slice of bacon.
We need to keep these wrapped tightly to avoid all that cheese falling out so use toothpicks where necessary to ensure all the cheese is covered. With this done we are ready for the grill.
Grill Time
Place the poppers on your preheated grill. To ensure all the cheese is melted and the bacon is crispy you need about six minutes on the first side. I choose to cook with the cut side facing down first. When you flip them over you are also cooking the jalapeno so it will take a little longer. This side can take up to about 10 minutes depending on the temperature of your grill.
When all the cheese is melted and the bacon crispy all the way around you are done. Take them off the grill and serve them up. They work excellent as an appetizer whilst you are waiting for the main meal to finish cooking. Ah, forget that they work well with just about anything!
